Pedro Massarão

He began studying the cello at the age of 5 and in 2016 he completed his first studies with Luís Sá Pessoa at the National Conservatory Music School. He completed his degree with Professor Paulo Gaio Lima at the Lisbon School of Music in June 2019. He completed his master's degree with Professor Jeroen den Herder at the Escola de Música do Conservatório Nacional in June 2021. In 2017, he won the Young Musicians Award in the Chamber Music category. In the area of chamber music, he is one of the founders of Trio Adamastor, collaborates with groups such as Avres Serva, América Antiga or Os Músicos do Tejo, performing at venues such as Casa da Música (Porto), Centro Cultural de Belém, Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian (Lisbon), De Doelen (Rotterdam), and has also participated in various festivals such as: Estoril Coast International Music Festival, Marvão International Music Festival, Os Dias da Música (Lisbon), Zutphen International Cello Festival, Póvoa do Varzim International Music Festival or the Arte nas Adegas Festival. In the field of free improvisation, he regularly collaborates with musicians such as Filippo Deorsola and João Almeida, after recording an album, 'Miniaturas' in 2021. He has been a Gulbenkian Foundation scholarship holder since 2019.
