The activities of the Casa de Mateus Foundation are guaranteed through the management of its own funds, so all our visitors, through the purchase of an entrance ticket and their donations, are guaranteed to be contributing to the maintenance and perpetuation of a unique heritage.
The Casa de Mateus Foundation was set up on 3 December 1970 by D. Francisco de Sousa Botelho de Albuquerque, Count of Mangualde, Vila Real and Melo, who donated a substantial part of his estate to this institution. The statutory aims of the Casa de Mateus Foundation are the preservation of the House, the study of its archives and the promotion of cultural, scientific and educational activities.
Today, the Foundation is a dynamic, community-oriented organisation that promotes knowledge and excellence in its most varied interventions, occupying a prominent place on the national and international scene, to which the collective and individual efforts of the founder's family point.
The Casa de Mateus Foundation is a private law institution with Public Utility status, which employs more than 50 staff. The Casa de Mateus Foundation's activities are guaranteed through the management of its own funds, so all our visitors, through the purchase of an entrance ticket and their donations, are guaranteed to be contributing to the maintenance and perpetuation of a unique heritage.

Between 1 April and 30 June, when you hand in your personal tax return, choose to support the Casa de Mateus Foundation:
-Go to the Finance Portal or to Form 3 of your personal income tax return and look for Box 11 - Consignment of 0.5% of personal income tax.
-Select option 1103: Cultural institution with public utility status (article 152 of the CIRS).
-Fill in the NIF field (500 122 210)
-Select the IRS option.
