Escalar uma montanha ajuda-nos a perceber que também fazemos parte da Natureza, a compreender o valor intrínseco de todos os elementos do mundo em que vivemos, e a pretender a imergência daquilo que Nietzsche designou de ir para além do homem. Na nossa linguagem corrente, associamos também o topo, o cimo da montanha, o seu ponto mais alto, o cume, como uma referência à elevação do comportamento humano.

Nestas minhas pinturas de paisagens, e não só nestas, a repetição evidencia a diferença, e uma coalescência onde o presente se associa ao passado e ao futuro, no sentido lyotardiano do seu entendimento pós-moderno. Como noutras situações do meu já longo percurso, em todo ele, transpira uma provocação e desafio ao pensamento de cada um, no confrontar de postulados como sendo definitivos. Aqui o espaço/tempo adequa-se um ao outro. Conserva-se a memória do passado no presente que passa, é já futuro. É um plano fixo, mas que conduz ao movimento quando se reinventa no campo próprio do ato de pensar, de pintar. "

"The 'Painted Garden', not being painted, has a lot to do with painting. I also designed and represented the marble ovoids as mountains. In the public presentation of this 'Painted Garden' there is also a painting exhibition of mountains that do not exist, Nonexistent Mountains, for they are nothing more than the painting itself."

Climbing a mountain helps us realize that we are also part of Nature, to understand the intrinsic value of all the elements of the world we live in, and to aim for the emergence of what Nietzsche termed going beyond man. In our everyday language, we also associate the top, the peak of the mountain, its highest point, the summit, as a reference to the elevation of human behavior.

In these landscape paintings of mine, and not only in these, repetition highlights difference, and a coalescence where the present is linked to the past and the future, in the Lyotardian sense of his postmodern understanding. As in other situations of my already long journey, throughout it all, breathes a provocation and challenge to each one's thought, in confronting postulates as being definitive. Here space/time suit each other. The memory of the past is preserved in the present that passes, is already future. It is a fixed plan, but it leads to movement when it reinvents itself in the proper field of the act of thinking, of painting."
