On Saturday 11 November, we'll be celebrating Saint Martin's Day. Starting at ten in the morning, guided by mycologist Miguel Soares, we'll walk through the woods adjacent to the Casa de Mateus Foundation and, while we pick, learn to identify the tastiest edible species of mushrooms that inhabit the region. Then, throughout the afternoon, around chestnuts and generous seasonal nectars, we'll read and celebrate, in the company of Henrique Fialho and Pedro Mexia, the work of A. M. Pires Cabral, Vila Real's greatest poet and winner of the D. Diniz Prize in 2005, with the book 'Douro: Pizzicato e Chula', ed. Cotovia.
